My mood board consists of images from NME and Q magazine. I chose these two magazine because I think they both use colour and layout very effectively, which is something I want to enturpret into the style of my magazine. The colour schemes of both magazines usually consist of red, white and black, which is eyecatching and links well with the bold writing placed on the front cover. This technique is used on the top left hand NME over, to draw attention to the picture of Amy Winehouse on the front cover, and makes the front cover more interesting to look at (unlike magazine such as Kerrang!, that subsitute a good clear layout and colour scheme for there magazine with good background and masthead effects).
The way that the contents page for NME is layed out is simple but effective. It contains a lot of white space, but it is clear to read about the articles and contains pictures directly above to give the reader a better idea what the article is about. Both magazines DPS are also pretty simple, and contain clear images of the artists giving an idea about the article.
